Relax and unwind in the lap of luxury at Ivory Manor Boutique Hotel, situated in the east of Pretoria. Book a night’s stay or just grab lunch … it’s so beautiful, you won’t want to leave.

When strolling through the impressive Ivory Manor Boutique Hotel, it’s hard to believe that the beautiful property once served as residence to owner Susan Reynolds and her family.

The saying “a home away from home” has never rung more true.

Susan and her husband Theuns bought the property in 2003 and the house served as home to the family and their four sons.

“The idea to turn our home into a hotel developed over time as we realised the possibilities the property offered. My husband wanted to move to the Silver Lakes security estate and we wanted the property to realise its full potential,” Susan explained.

But, obviously a few changes had to be made and it took about a year to make the necessary changes. Some of the entertainment areas had to be enlarged and the existing areas had to be revamped into more usable spaces.

“The wine cellar used to be our storeroom,” Susan laughs.

The initial plan was to turn the property into a guesthouse, but with the star grading it was changed to a five-star hotel. We couldn’t agree more – it’s spectacular!

“Our gorgeous setting is enhanced with the beautiful art, the luscious gardens, music and a handful of selected wine, gourmet food and passionate employees. And the unique atmosphere is only something you will get to experience and understand once you’ve been here,” Susan adds.

The venue boasts three uniquely different garden landscapes – a rose garden, a fairy forest and the French quarter. For Susan, the fairy forest is her favourite place on the premises – a holy place. She grew up on a farm and got her deep love of gardening from her mother. But who helps her keep the luscious gardens in mint condition?

“Benji Madire and Themba Seetsa have been working for us for years and know the garden like the palm of their hands. I would say the different gardens kind of designed themselves. Every unique space asked for something different and the variety keeps it interesting,” she says.

But it’s not only the gardens that will take your breath away. Ivory Manor Boutique Hotel is also home to many priceless works of art and fine porcelain pieces.

“I have a passion for art in all its forms – be it a beautiful painting, a beautiful flower, music, porcelain or even just a beautiful person,” Susan explains.

She even opened an art gallery at the hotel in September, so make sure to swing by and check it out.

“Pretorians always go to Cape Town to experience good art, wine, music, flowers, food and festivals. Here at Ivory Manor Boutique Hotel, we now offer them all in one,” she adds.

So the next time you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city or just want to relax for a bit, make your way over to the hotel.

The team prides itself in rendering personalised, friendly service to each of their guests, be it for a corporate event or a luxurious romantic breakaway. The team of skilled employees know how to cater to your every need.

In the kitchen, chef Liza Strauss is in charge.

She has years of experience and her food bears the mark of understanding – understanding the importance of creating unique yet complementing flavour profiles, beautiful presentation and food being lovingly prepared to be wholesome and plentiful.

Their menu ranges from a delectable breakfast spread, à-la-carte menu options, to a relaxed boma braai menu or formal dining if required.

And of course, what is food without a glass (or two) of delicious wine? The hotel’s stylish wine cellar offers the ideal setting for private functions and boasts with a handpicked selection of fine wines.

Kick back and relax in the opulent Cigar Lounge for a good single malt whiskey, relaxing in the charming Piazza or venturing to the heated swimming pool with a book from their extensive library selection.

Additional offerings also include private picnics in the forest garden, the use of various conferencing facilities, cooking classes, wine-tasting events, the Billiard room, in-room spa treatments and their swimming pool area.

For all the mommies, they also offer babysitting/child-minding facilities with prior arrangement.
