The Light House
There are many gorgeous destinations in the Cape Winelands, and we’ve recently (and thankfully) discovered a new, utterly desirable option … The Light House Boutique Suites in the Paarl.
This historic town is just a hop, skip and jump away from Franschhoek and Stellenbosch, and a short 45-minute drive from Cape Town, so it really is an ideal base for those who want to explore the area.
Elegant, luxurious and comfortable – this guest house has five creatively themed and seriously well-appointed suites, all with bespoke furniture.
For those who want to spend a lazy day in the sun, there’s a lovely sun terrace with swimming pool set in the magnificent gardens … we could happily wile away a few days here, cocktail in one hand, book in the other. For those with more energy, there are biking, trail-hiking and horse-riding.
And then there’s everything wonderful to discover in the area … the wine farms, obviously, as well as family outings like Butterfly World (the largest butterfly sanctuary in Africa and a magical experience for children and adults), the Crocodile Park and Lion Park, two prime golf courses and the Heritage Trail with its fascinating architectural details. Besides enjoying the wine route, a visit to the Spice Route and Fairview Cheese is hugely recommended.
There are many excellent restaurants in the area (half the fun of going to the Cape, let’s face it, is to experience as many of their top restaurants as you can); but lunch and dinner can be arranged if you prefer to stay ‘home’ for the day.
The Light House can sleep up to 10 guests, with children over 12 years welcome, but if you book exclusive use of the villa children of all ages are welcome … a lovely option if you’re travelling with family and friends.
You can, if you wish, book out the hotel for a luxurious, private affair.
Bespoke furniture in stylish, comfortable rooms.
A glass of bubbly by the pool? Don’t mind if I do!
Lunches and dinners can be arranged … otherwise experience the exceptional restaurants in the area.
