Five weird shoe trends
What is a girl without her shoes? Uhm, let’s not even go there. Trends – shoes and fashion – come and go, some we love and some we’re happy to see go.
Here are five shoe trends from the last decade we’re not so sure about. What do you think?
1. Gun Hoof Shoes
These shoes by Iris Schieferstein have been around since 2012 and are strange, to say the least. Using goat hooves and a toy gun, the artist achieved a look that will be immortalised for years to come. There is no way you can look at this and forget it.
2. Dries Van Noten’s Sculpted Heels Velvet Pumps
These are a work of art if we’ve ever seen one. These autumn 2017 sculpted heels from Belgian designer Dries Van Noten are what every woman needs in her closet. We approve.
3. Reverse Heel Shoes
Yep, you read right. Reverse heel shoes are a thing. These shoe oddities have been around since Lady Gaga became famous. She calmed down, the designers didn’t. Would you wear these?
4. Shoes with small creatures in the heel
These shoes give us flower power nostalgia. With faux hamsters, goldfish and even tarantulas, these shoes will surely turn heads as you walk down the street. Hopefully, no animals were harmed in the making of these shoes.
5. Ornate heels
These intricately designed heels are in! Some look like chess pieces and some like oppressed gnomes (why are you smiling, gnomes?), this trend is interesting and we hope it gets the recognition it rightly deserves.
