Wine and whisky to beat the cold

Not even the chilly weekend could keep food and wine enthusiasts across the city at bay as they descended upon Woodlands mall for the annual Wine Fair 2017. Woodlands mall together with Food Lover’s Market and Pentravel hosted its 6th annual Wine Fair between 16 and 17 June and guests got to taste over 200 different wines. The event also boasted a wide array of food stalls selling delicious meals for every taste.
A portion of proceeds are donated to the Friends of Rietvlei fund which manages the rhino project in the Rietvlei nature reserve, located 8km from Woodlands mall. This year’s event was made extra special with the addition of the “Sexy Scottish Singles” whisky tasting. There were four tasting sessions to choose from including the “Tomatin Legacy” , aged in ex-bourbon and virgin oak casks; the”Tullibardine Burgundy” , aged in ex-bourbon and ex-burgundy (French red wine) casks; and the “Tamdhu 10 year old, aged in ex-sherry casks.
