Keeping dad healthy on Father’s day
Father’s day is drawing closer and if a gift hasn’t already been bought or decided upon, it’s only going to get harder. Do things differently this year and give dad the gift of a healthy heart and body.
Show him that you care by trying out some of these ideas:
– A healthy breakfast
Cliche as it is, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Why not start Father’s day off by surprising dad with breakfast in bed and boosting his energy for the day’s activities.
– Fun-filled activities
Organise a soccer day with dad and his friends or go cycling with him. This will help to reduce the risks of chronic disease and strengthen muscles and bones.
This could even become something you and dad do together on a regular basis.
Consider signing dad up for a gym membership or going to the gym with him on the day.
Encouraging dad to join the gym will go beyond father’s day and will help him to maintain a healthy weight and brain. It could also contribute to giving him the chance to live a healthier and longer life.
Surprise dad with dinner…a healthy dinner.
Choose from lean cut meats such as beef tenderloin or chicken breast and pair it with a salad or skewered vegetables and corn.
– Games night
Bring the family together around the coffee table and play different board games such as 30 seconds, Monopoly or Scrabble.
You could even serve healthy snacks such as mixed nuts, vegetable sticks with a healthy dip or biltong.
