Five reasons to travel now

Five reasons to travel now

If you spend your days at your desk daydreaming about a tropical island, pack those suitcases and throw in that bikini because the experience of a lifetime is waiting just around the corner.

We all know the feeling of being stuck in a job we don’t love. So why not pack your bag and travel the world?

Sometimes all you need is a little nudge.

Need more convincing? We’ve put together five reasons why it’s a good idea to just pack your bags and get on a plane:

1. Experience new things before it’s too late
Do not wait until it’s too late before you decide to travel. Although travelling is also exciting when you’re older, there is nothing quite like going out and experiencing new and exciting things with a young, open mind. When you’re still young and don’t have too many serious commitments, it is important to take the opportunities life gives you before the chance passes you by. If you are not married and do not have children, now is your time to take a few months off and travel to your heart’s content.

2. Broadening your horizons
Always take each new quest in your stride. Try new food, learn new languages, and explore new cultures in order to grow as a person.  You will carry these experiences with you for the rest of your life and they will without a doubt shape the person you become.  Think outside the box and be open-minded to new ideas and opportunities.  How else will you know what is out there?

3. Meet new people
Meeting new people is one of the greatest perks of travelling. You never know who you could meet along the way, which makes it that much more exciting.  You could meet the most interesting and awe-inspiring people by travelling, and could even be introduced to the love of your life or your future employer.  It all boils down to taking the chance and expanding your social and networking circles.

4. Become independent
There is nothing quite like travelling to teach you independence. Think about it, you’re away from home, out of your comfort zone, and having to fend for yourself.  Having to ‘leave the nest’ and look after yourself without those closest to you will teach you the independence you need to carry through for the rest of your life.

5. Live a little
Explore, have fun and enjoy it. Just remember that everything must be done in moderation, so take the good with the bad and remember that things happen for a reason.  It is important to not take yourself too seriously, but rather to enjoy the experience and learn from it.  No-one ever experienced new things or made a difference by staying home and not exploring what is out there, so give it a go and you will be amazed at what you find.

We might see you on a beach with a mojito in a pair of flip-flops after all, right?
